Can Somebody Answer These Questions?

What is "victory" in Iraq? I'm tired of this
prolonged occupation with the excuse "victory" is around the
corner. Can someone tell me what it means? Do we suddenly think
Sunnis and Shiites will get along? They've been fighting since
Mohammed died, and it isn't likely they are going to stop
because we want them to stop. But I think the media is letting
the Bush Administration off the hook by not asking them (after
more than four years) to clearly define "victory".
Why is Alberto Gonzales still the nation's
Attorney General? His testimony has been contradicted by not
only his own staff, but also by the FBI Director. Doesn't he
embarrass Republicans too?
How can the Bush Administration claim "Executive
Privilege" for every person that is to testify in front of
Congress? If they have to answer no questions from the branch of
government that is to act as a check and balance to executive
authority, they are essentially a dictatorship, and our form of
government with three branches checking the power of the others
no longer exists. Clinton should have claimed it for his
indiscretions, and we would have been able to deal with
important issues in the 1990's instead of his personal life.
So Kim Ward thinks she couldn't speak up when
Regola the elder got cited for an ethics violation because the
investigations are confidential? After someone is cited, the
ethics commission makes public the names of violators. Kimmy, I
have another question for you: who directed your township
solicitor to respond to Kukovich's political ads when your
protégé was running against him? When Allen's campaign
questioned the management of the township's pension fund, it was
not the Bob Regola campaign that responded, but the township's
solicitor. Can you answer that question Kim, or will your
solicitor answer for you?
Why do Republican Congressmen English and
Peterson feel it is unfair for people across the northern tier
of Pennsylvania to pay tolls to use an interstate highway, while
those that travel across the southern tier have been paying them
for years? And why are these two guys out of step with their own
party members in the state legislature? And better yet, why no
solution for funding the huge transportation challenges we face
for not only transit but also highways and the nearly six
thousand bridges we have in the commonwealth that need to be
fixed?
Why so many presidential debates in 2007? Will
there be anything left to say in 2008 by any candidate from
either party? Frankly I'm not watching either side's debates. I
get the "highlights" from the Daily Show where one can find out
all they need to know about the endless number of presidential
debates.
Why is Barack Obama being chastised for saying
he would meet with leaders like Castro and Hugo Chavez? It
should be a sign of our strength and self-confidence that the
leader of the strongest country on Earth meets with leaders we
have disagreements with. We might actually overcome our
differences. No one called Nixon weak when he met with the Red
Chinese during the Vietnam War while that country was arming the
North Vietnamese. If fact, he was complimented for creating
"détente". It is absolutely absurd that we have no relationship
with Cuba (70 miles from the coast of Florida) because Castro is
a communist, yet we do business with China. Are Cuban-American
voters that powerful that they can shape our foreign policy
nearly 50 years after Cuba went communist?
And finally, why is Kim Ward whining about the
county's relationship with local elected officials? We work with
municipal governments on a daily basis and through our
Industrial Development Corporation we've built industrial parks
throughout the county and invested heavily in her township. I've
met regularly with mayors from our county for years, and in the
years I've been in office, my door has always been open to local
elected officials. Strangely though, Kim has never called.
