Ward's Getting Desperate

Posted 10-19-2007

Kim Ward must really be getting desperate. She put her flunky Dale Cordial, head of the PT Group, up to a charade of calling the newspapers to complain that his company isn't getting work from Westmoreland County. Specifically he complained about not getting therapy work at Westmoreland Manor and not being on the county's panel for workers' compensation work.

Mr. Cordial, of course, is not just an ordinary citizen who can't get a "fair shake". He is a personal friend of Ward's, who not only donated to her campaign but also has been listed as a member of her host committee for fundraisers. He has also given $4,000 dollars to Republican candidates ranging from former Senator Slick Rick Santorum to former Texas Senator Phil Gramm.

What makes the whole episode so transparently pathetic is that the county does not even have a panel for workers' compensation physical therapists. We leave the choice of physical therapists up to the doctor and the patient. As for the nursing home physical therapy, that had previously been done by a Philadelphia company; it was bid and was awarded to a Westmoreland County company. That company has not only done a fine job for the Manor residents, it has helped the nursing home staff identify more avenues for increasing reimbursement.

The timing of Mr. Cordial's ridiculous claims, a few weeks before the election, just shows how pathetically desperate Kim Ward and her minions have become. It also shows how little they actually know about county government. Most importantly, it speaks to the ethics of candidate Ward who puts her friends up to doing her political dirty work.
