December 28, 2006 -- Westmoreland County Commissioners Appoint New Elections Director -- The Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners today named James Montini as Director of the County's Elections Bureau.

December 19, 2006 -- Commissioner Balya Donates $3,500 to County Charities and Vocational Schools -- In keeping with a pledge he made a decade ago, Westmoreland County Commissioner Tom Balya is donating $3,500 to a variety of local charities and vocational schools.

December 7, 2006 -- Westmoreland County Prison Earns Top Grade From State -- The Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners today announced that the County Prison received the highest possible score (100 percent compliance) during a recent state inspection of the facility.

October 17, 2006 -- Westmoreland County Improves Information and Referral Services Assistance Now Available 24/7; Key Move Toward 211 -- Westmoreland County residents in need of assistance now have help 24 hours a day / seven days per week.

September 7, 2006 -- Westmoreland County Approves $1.75 Million in Environmental Projects -- Conservation and community enhancement efforts in Westmoreland County will receive a $1.75 million boost through the state's Growing Greener II County Environmental Initiative Program. The Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners -- Tom Balya, Tom Ceraso and Phil Light -- today designated 21 separate conservation projects for funding.

August 31, 2006 -- Westmoreland County Now Offering Free GIS Through Website -- The Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners, Tom Balya, Tom Ceraso and Phil Light, today announced the availability of an Internet-based Geographic Information System (GIS) that increases access to public information.

April 4, 2006 -- Westmoreland County Announces Public Demonstration Schedule for New Voting Machines -- The Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners today announced a series of public demonstrations of the county's new electronic voting machines that will be used in the spring primary election.

February 9, 2006 -- Westmoreland County Announces Plans to Improve Children's Bureau -- The Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners today announced a series of improvements to enhance services provided to families by the county Children's Bureau. The actions are based on recent findings by the Children's Bureau Task Force -- an independent panel that conducted a comprehensive study of the Bureau for more than a year.
