Unity Township Water Line Extension Project Underway

Through the combined efforts of the Westmoreland County
Commissioners - Tom Balya, Tom Ceraso and Phil Light - the Unity
Township Supervisors, Westmoreland County's Office of Community
Development and the residents of the Baggaley community, the
Unity Township Waterline Extension Project is now underway. The
project kicks off with a July 3 ceremony at Baggaley Elementary
School.
The project, consisting of the installation of
approximately 13,350 feet of eight-inch water line and 11 fire
hydrants will provide clean drinking water and substantial fire
protection for 97 households (202 people) in the Baggaley area.
"Quality water is without a doubt an important
part of the quality of life in Westmoreland County," said County
Commissioner Chairman Tom Balya. "We have given water
infrastructure a very high priority, and we are pleased to be
able to help the residents of Baggaley with this important
project."
The $500,000 project is being funded by:

Block Grant Program - $400,000

PA Department of Community and Economic
Development - $20,000

PA Department of Environmental Protection -
$80,000
The project is expected to be completed by fall. |
