Commissioner Balya Donates
$3,500 to County Charities and Vocational Schools --
Continuing a holiday tradition he began in 1996, Westmoreland
County Commissioner Tom Balya today announced $250 donations to
14 nonprofit charitable organizations and vocational technical
schools in Westmoreland County.
November 12, 2008 --
Westmoreland County Prison
Earns Top Grade From State; Second Consecutive Inspection
with 100 Percent -- The Westmoreland County Board
of Commissioners today announced that the County Prison received
the highest possible score (100 percent compliance) during a
recent state inspection of the facility. The county achieved
this honor for the second consecutive inspection cycle; the
previous was in 2006.

Completes Final Phase of Major Employment Zone; Opening of
Technology Park II Creates Hundreds of New Job Opportunities

Corporation's (WCIDC) Board of Directors, County Commissioners
Tom Balya, Tom Ceraso, and Kim Ward, today joined state and
local officials to mark the opening of the county's newest
industrial park, Westmoreland Technology Park II.

Search Now Available On-Line -- On behalf of the
Westmoreland County Commissioners, Prison Warden John Walton
today announced that a new inmate search feature is now
available on-line through the Westmoreland County homepage at
www.co.westmoreland.pa.us.

Westmoreland County Creating
One-Stop-Shop for Land Records; New office will enhance
records access and resident services at minimal cost to
taxpayers -- Continuing its efforts to streamline
and modernize county government, the Westmoreland County Board
of Commissioners today entered into a lease agreement to
consolidate land records offices into new office space that will
increase public accessibility to property documents.

Prescription Discount Cards
Save Westmoreland County Residents $17,000; Rx Savings
Average $14 per Prescription -- County residents
have saved $17,700 during the first two months of a prescription
drug discount program initiated earlier this year by the
Westmoreland County Commissioners.

Westmoreland County Hosts Week
of the Uninsured, April 28 - May 2; Qualifying Families Can
Enroll in CHIP, adultBasic Insurance Programs -- To
mark the "Week of the Uninsured in Westmoreland County" the Board of
Commissioners today announced that during the week of April 28-May 4
the Courthouse will host an information and enrollment kiosk for
uninsured families to enroll in the Children's Health Insurance
Program (CHIP) and adultBasic health plan.

Prescription Drug Discount Cards
Now Available: County Residents Can Pick Them Up at Area
Libraries and Senior Centers -- All Westmoreland
County residents can now participate in the county's new
prescription drug discount card program. The Board of Commissioners
today announced a number of distribution points throughout the
county for residents to pick up their cards.

Prescription Drug Discount Card Program For All County Residents
March 1; Discount Cards Will Offer Average Savings of 20 Percent
off Retail Price -- The Westmoreland County Board of
Commissioners today announced plans to launch a prescription drug
discount card program March 1 to help consumers cope with the high
price of prescription drugs.
