to area non-profits continue for future years

Westmoreland County Commissioner Tom Balya continues to make good on a promise to
County residents by giving back the 15% pay increase for elected officials he voted
against in 1996. This year, Commissioner Balya has teamed up with the Community Foundation
of Westmoreland County in creating the Tom Balya Fund to act as a medium in ensuring these
annual donations to area non-profits continue for future years.
"The Community Foundation of
Westmoreland County is delighted to have the Tom Balya Fund as part of our growing family
of funds," states Hugh Dempsey, President of the Community Foundation, " The Tom
Balya Fund will benefit many organizations and individuals all across Westmoreland County.
Along with his 15t pay increase, gifts to this fund may also come from individuals who
wish to honor Commissioner Balya for the work he is doing on behalf of the citizens of
Westmoreland County", continued Dempsey. As in past years, Commissioner Balya's $250
donations will go to non-profit organizations throughout the county, and for scholarships
to county vocational schools to enhance opportunities for young people in Westmoreland
County.
"I am committed to giving back this
money to the schools and organizations that can utilize it the best, to provide the
quality of services that all Westmoreland County residents have come to appreciate,"
said Balya. "My new relationship with the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County
and the creation of the Tom Balya Fund ensures this commitment for as long as I am
privileged to serve as County Commissioner," he continued.
