who do you support for the United States Senate from Pennsylvania? 56% said Ron Klink (22
votes) and 43% said Rick Santorum (15).
Our 12th question asked: In light of the
issue of tax reform having never been implemented in Pennsylvania, if the legislature ever
takes action, do favor: A. Property tax replaced by sales tax. B. Property tax replaced by
wage tax. C. Property tax stay in place but senior citizens exempt. Sixty-two percent said
sales tax, 22% said wage tax and 16% said senior exemption.
Our 11th question asked: If Pat Buchanan is
the Reform Party candidate for president, who will be hurt more? Bush received 12 votes,
Gore, 5 votes.
Our 10th question asked: Which Republican
presidential candidate do you think has more appeal to Independents and Democrats and will
be a tougher opponent in the General Election? John McCain received 15 votes and George W.
Bush 10 votes.
Our 9th question asked: Who do you support
in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate? Ron Klink received 39% of the votes; Bob
Rovner, 29%; Allyson Schwartz, 22%; Tom Foley, 4%; Phil Berg, 3%; and Murray Levin, 2% of
the 81 votes cast.
Our 8th question asked In light of Eugene
Porterfield's change in party affiliation, if the election were held today, who would you
select for Senator in the 39th District, Allen Kukovich or Eugene Porterfield? Porterfield
topped the tally with 128 votes to 50 for Kukovich.
Our 7th question asked If the Presidential
Election was held today who would you vote for between these two matchups we think are
most likely. Four people said they would vote for Al Gore to one vote for George W. Bush.
Ten people said they would vote for Bill Bradley to one for George W. Bush.
Our 6th question asked which proposals
voters would think would do the most to increase turnout at the polls. 41% said mail-in
voting, 33% said Saturday or Sunday election days and 29% said same-day registration with
photo identification.
Our 5th question asked which candidate as
the most political signs up in Westmoreland County. The results were Balya, 28%; Scherer,
20% Ceraso, 15%; Bell, 10%; Marsili, 10%; Keim, 7% and Murphy, 7%.

commissioners -- the incoming or the outgoing -- should be responsible for determining the
financing plan for the 800 MHz radio system.
